Hello Ena and all at Second Chance Kennels.
Just thought you would like to hear how Phoebe is progressing in her new home. She has settled in very well. I'm surprised at how quickly she has adapted to home living. She loves her walks and jumps up on the sofa to get her harness and lead on. Outside she is a champion sniffer. She loves her squeaky toys and watches TV if any animal programmes are on! House training is a bit slower but I'm sure we'll get there.
I have tried to send three pictures of her supervising the making of her dinner, killing her squeaky toy and exploring the garden. I hope they arrive.
Best wishes from Lorraine.
Thank you Lorraine for the update on "our" wee lass so pleased she has settled in so well. xx

Lovely syrprise yesterday Ginny, Andy Mieshka and Max came to visit, it was lovely to see them all. The wee lass was her usual friendly self and Max well what a difference in him he was a very timid wee lad but is coming on so well. He was even confident enough to sit and get his pics taken, without having to cuddle into mum or dad.Aren't they gorgeous xx

Hello to all at Second Chance

A wee update from Penny.

Mum & Dad were lucky enough for me to choose them in July last this year

I have settled in really nicely. I have been on holiday in my caravan lots thisyear (Dad say's it is a luxury kennel lol) absolutely love it. In fact won a rossette for "dog the judge would most like to take home". NO CHANCE say's Mum!!!!!.

My new big sis Charley Patterdale took sometime to get used to me, but she is defo the boss now. That is good cause I like her mature guidance at times. We run around the livingroom, me barking and Charley growling ( that's what we do when we're having fun, OK !....) Mum, shuts her eyes and say's "OMG, my ornaments". Then she laughs at the major fun we arehaving.

Had a photo shoot, yeh! Imagine, me!!!!! Photoshoot.

Hope to come and see Ena and Frank and wee Alfie very soonandIwill
Bring my Photo shoot. Due to Mum's pathetic internet package, I can only post a couple of photos. I told her she was rubbish with technology!!!

Love to all xxxxx

Penny thank your mum very much, love the photo's both brilliant. You do look so very happy now.xx

Hi Ena,
I just wanted to give you a wee update on Millie, she is such a wee treasure so much a part of the family we are all so happy :) She is a few weeks away from being 10 months old and is still growing lol ! (she wears it well though !). She is coming on leaps and bounds in her training classes as well and as a result has been moved up to the advanced class so we are super proud of her for that.
A few weeks ago she finished her first/ last season so we need to get sorted with having her spayed soon.
I have attached a few photos for you of her, and really just want to thank you again for completing our family for us.
Tamara, your very welcome, isn't she just gorgeous,so happy for you all. She might stop growing in a few months lol. Thanks for the update on Millie and the photo's are lovely xx

Harris xx >>
Posted: 2nd November 2014

Received a lovely letter and photographs's yesterday from Harris's family. They are absolutely besotted with him. This is what they wrote !!

Just a quick note to let you know how Harris is doing . It's been a gradual process but he has now settled with us to the point he thinks he is the centre of the universe, I have to say he is definately the centre of ours.He has gone from anxious little dog who gave us no eye contact, didn't eat a lot to having breakfast and tea no problem looking us in the eye and best of all he wags his tail. There is another page and a half of his exploits It ends by saying " I have always said he is very definately the centre of our universe and our lives are much richer for having him in it,

How nice is that, thank you so much as I know you have put a lot of work and effort into getting him to where he is today. Love the photo's his chew is about as big as him lol. xx

Brodie ( was Paddy here) >>
Posted: 31st October 2014

Hi Ena and Frank,
I just thought I'd update you on Brodie (Paddy). It's been over a year and a half since he came home with me, and rest assured, he is loved to bits and spoiled rotten.
I have been at the end of my tether with him at times, He's given me a lot of grey hairs! He worried sheep and continually escaped and went walk about, but I have been fortunate to find a fantastic gundog trainer, who was able to give me a lot of help with him, and a lot of insight into how the working cocker's little brains tick!. Brodie is now a fully trained gundog, and 99% of the time, is a complete joy, I'm so proud of him!
He has definitely been the most challenging rescue I have ever had, but I can't imagine life without him now. Thank you for letting me have him.
Sometimes, you never know what you are getting with a rescue dog, they are often ( but not always) a rescue for a reason, but in my experience they usually turn out to be the best dogs you could ever ask for, given love, patience and commitment.
Hats off to you both and your brilliant staff for what you do for these dogs.
Wishing you all the best,
Vicky,Brodie (AKA Paddy) and Cooper.

Vicky thank you so much for the update on Brodie, so pleased you adopted him although I think you often wondered yourself " why did I do this " He looks great.Frank and myself are always so greatful to people who put the time and effort in to help our residents, and as you said some need it more than others !! Must have been quite a shock to the system after wee Lucy xxx

Blue & Sky xx >>
Posted: 30th October 2014

Hi Ena

Just to let you know Blue and Sky are really settling in now. They are a joy! They've been to the hairdresser who also thought they were gorgeous!

They love getting their coats on (plenty of practice with this weather!) and then when they come home, getting on their bath robes. If they stayed

still long enough, we might eventually get a photo of them! Blue loves lying in front of the wood-burner at nights, toasting herself until she's so hot,

she has to move away for all of five minutes before she's back again! Sky prefers the comfort of her double duvet!

Hope all is well.

Best wishes

Reta, Alison, Blue and Sky

Thank you so very much for the update on your girls, so pleased they have settled so well, they look amazing xx

Posted: 28th October 2014

Love these kind of stories, Sparky was adopted from here about nine years ago, his folks came by for a visit and to hand in some duvets, of course they had to pass Skye on the way in and that was it Sparky has a new brother. Sparky is now 12 years old but they get on well Skye repects Sparky, Skye is even good with the wee cat who lives with them. xx
