Since it opened in 1999, hundreds of dogs have passed through the kennels doors and have gone on to wonderful new homes and families. On this page you will see some of those lucky dogs in their forever homes, and hear how they've settled in and how they've enriched their new families' lives.

This is a wee story and more pics from Penny her first night and full day in her new home, cuddled up to dad and the children.

Ena,Frank and everyone at Second Chance Kennels,

You were really kind and thoughtful. Thanks for giving me a second chance.

If it wasn't for you, who knows where I would have ended up! Thanks you so much for giving me a family to love and adore me. I liked being safe at your kennels but I am so happy to be in my new home with a great garden.

I know my old next door neighbour Teal, has also gone to a lovely new home.

You are truly wonderful people, to me my real life heroes. You saved me and gave a family a wonderful present- a little bundle of love! I will come back and visit real soon but my family want to become more settled and used to going in the car.

see you soon

Love Penny xx

This is Marion & Dave, sadly their Lassie a former Second Chance girl has gone to the bridge a few months ago. They are such a lovely couple and gave Lassie such a brilliant home, that we set out to try and find a wee dog to suit them. It had to be another special wee dog and guess what after much searching, I finally found her at the kennels next door, she is a sweetheart why no one claimed her beggars belief. However, their loss is very much Marion & Dave's gain. They have got that sparkle back in their eyes.I think she might be getting named Sally a lovely soft name for such a lovely wee girl. We hope you all have a very happy life together and Sally the wind will never blow on you the wrong way ever again.

Dear Ena
Attached are some photos of Harry. He is doing really well. Cat is miffed because we brought ANOTHER dog into the house, just when she thought she was going to be in charge! Harry has been no bother at all, he settles in his bed at night, is eating ok, I have groomed him which he accepted, he has also been off the lead quite a bit. We discovered that he loves water. He frolics like a mad thing in the stream, doing the usual wheaten whirlies. He has also met some doggy neighbours and gets on well with them all so far. All in all we are all happy with him. He has been a bit cheeky too, getting on the sofa when told not to, taking my socks, one shoe, oh and a toothbrush . . . . perhaps he’s trying to tell us he needs his teeth cleaned.

Thank you all for caring for Harry so well until his new home was found.

Best wishes

Sue Lowe

Diesel >>
Posted: 12th October 2008

Well what can I say our lovely boy Diesel had visitors yesterday and they came back again today, to cut a long story short he is now in his new home. Carol & Tony have had Rotties before, so know all about them.Good news is they are going to stay with Broadly Vets in Stirling as this is where the big lad had all his treatment and Wendy & Kath are very fond of him so they will be very happy. The kennels won't be the same without him and it has been a sad but happy day for us here, sad that he's gone but so happy he has gone to such a lovely home.

Hiya, this is Harry getting ready for the road. He certainly played to the gallery today, he has been a wee star here only problem we had with him was he hated Diesel our Rottie. We think it was because Diesel had been wearing a buster collar because Harry was brilliant with every other dog he met.

His new family have already had two Wheatens and we would like to thank Wheaten Terrier rescue for their help.
